Skeldon Regional Hospital

With the government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure nationwide, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) in Guyana is poised to receive a cutting-edge, $6.6 billion health facility. By early 2025, residents of Region Six can anticipate access to an upgraded healthcare hub.

Among its offerings, this new health facility will be the home of 75 inpatient beds, two advanced operating theatres, a minor theatre, and a fully equipped imaging suite featuring digital X-rays, ultrasound, and CT scans.

Additionally, it will feature contemporary accident and emergency as well as outpatient departments. Situated in Number 75 Village, construction is underway for a modern hospital facilitated by the China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, a Chinese State-owned enterprise called Sinopharm. An estimated 40,000 residents residing in this area of Region Six are expected to reap the benefits of this transformative initiative.



Bath Regional Hospital

The Government of Guyana has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative with the commencement of construction for a state-of-the-art $6.6 billion Regional Hospital in Bath Village. This ambitious project aims to revolutionise healthcare access for over 30,000 residents in Region Five (Mahaica- Berbice), promising enhanced medical services and facilities.

The level four Regional Hospital is set to redefine healthcare standards with its impressive features, including 75 in-patient beds, three operating theatres, a neonatal unit, a modern laboratory, and a 24-hour accident and emergency unit. Additionally, the hospital will offer CT scan services, a first of its kind being introduced to the region.

The construction of the Bath Regional Hospital, facilitated by China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, Sinopharm, marks a significant collaboration aimed at advancing healthcare standards in Guyana. With a commitment to providing comprehensive care and modern amenities, the Bath Regional Hospital is poised to become a beacon of hope and healing for the community, ensuring a healthier future for generations to come.



De Kinderen Regional Hospital

The modern hospital at De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara, represents a significant advancement in Guyana’s healthcare infrastructure. Situated strategically among the areas of Tuschen, Parika, and surrounding communities, this state-of-the-art facility is poised to address the diverse healthcare needs of the surrounding communities.

Constructed at a cost of approximately $6.6 billion, the project is being executed by China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, a Chinese State-owned enterprise referred to as Sinopharm, showcasing international collaboration for healthcare development.

Upon completion, this Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) health facility will house approximately 75 inpatient beds, two advanced operating theatres, a minor theatre, and a fully equipped imaging suite featuring digital X-rays, ultrasound, and CT scans. Additionally, it will house modern accident and emergency as well as outpatient departments, ensuring comprehensive healthcare services for the community.

This development is poised to elevate the standard of healthcare delivery and enhance the well-being of residents in Region Three. It is anticipated that the facility will play a pivotal role in improving healthcare accessibility and quality, contributing significantly to the overall health and welfare of the community.



Diamond Regional Hospital

In efforts to provide advanced service experience to persons along the East Bank Corridors, the Ministry of Health’s Diamond Regional Hospital currently undergoing construction catering for a population of 40,000. This project, which aims to provide improved access and quality of health care services to patients, is part of a partnership with China’s Sinopharm International, to modernise Guyana’s regional healthcare system.

Diamond Regional Hospital which is part of a larger project that will see five other hospitals being built across the country, will consist of a modern Accident and Emergency Unit (ER) and a Laboratory that will be operational on a 24-hour basis.
This facility will be fully equipped with CT scans, two operating theatres, several outpatient clinics, a neonatal unit and 75 patient beds, digital x-rays and ultrasound machines.

The Government of Guyana remains committed to building a world-class healthcare system that will cater for all citizens, the Caribbean and international visitors to Guyana. Hence, the project is part of the government’s plans to upgrade health facilities and add more to the country’s stock.



Enmore Regional Hospital

With the focus of providing high-quality health care to all Guyanese, the Government of Guyana continues to make significant investments into the development of modern facilities with the Enmore Regional Hospital among one out of six undergoing construction.

The Enmore Regional Hospital being the first of its kind, will take on tertiary care as it will be equipped with the amenities to provide excellent service to patients. As a 65,000 square feet facility, this hospital will consist of a 24-hour Accident and Emergency Department, a fully equipped fast pace Laboratory, and advanced Imaging Services. It will also have both outpatient and inpatient facilities with comfortable accommodations and two modern operating theatres that will be staffed with highly trained medical professionals, to ensure the highest level of care for patients.

The Government intends to train and employ a significant number of healthcare professionals to provide world-class medical services to the people of Guyana. With smooth progress being made, the Enmore Regional Hospital is expected to be fully operational by early 2025.



Lima Regional Hospital

The upcoming $6.6 billion modern hospital in Lima, situated on the Essequibo Coast, is poised to revolutionise healthcare in the region upon its completion in the first quarter of 2025. Boasting state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology, this medical facility aims to set a new standard for healthcare provision.

This regional hospital will have advanced equipment, including digital X-rays and CT scans, ensuring accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans. Moreover, the hospital’s comprehensive laboratory promises swift and efficient delivery of test results, enhancing patient care and expediting treatment processes.

With 75 inpatient beds catering to patients’ medical needs such as male, female, medical, surgical, pediatrics, and orthopedics, the hospital ensures ample capacity to accommodate patients requiring various levels of care.
The outpatient clinics will be readily available, offering accessible healthcare services to residents in the surrounding regions. The hospital will prioritize safety and sustainability with its backup power supply, water treatment, and waste disposal systems in place, ensuring uninterrupted operations and environmental responsibility.



New Amsterdam Hospital



Pediatric and Maternal Hospital

President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali and Minister of Health, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony on August 02, 2022, turned the sod for a EUR$149 million (GUY$31.9 billion) Paediatric and Maternal Hospital (PMH) at Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

This modern facility will offer specialised services in the care of pregnant women, mothers, and their newborn babies. Those include prenatal care, childbirth delivery, postpartum care, and sometimes neonatal care for newborns. It will also focus on the health and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents. These hospitals have specialized healthcare professionals who are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions and illnesses.

This Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) health facility will have 256 beds, will cover 24,000 square meters of gross floor areas and will have an imaging suite which will include CT scans, X-rays, and Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning equipment.

It will also be equipped with a modern laboratory which will process and analyse hundreds of samples per day with the utmost efficiency and accuracy. These new facilities will expand the capacity to provide quality healthcare services and bring medical care closer to communities.
