The Ministry of Health is a ministerial agency of the Government of Guyana (GOG). It is responsible for governing policy on medical and public health matters in Guyana. It is lead by the Minister of Health who is appointed by the ruling political party.
The Ministry of Health develops policies, strategies and guidelines to improve the quality of health care and services provided to citizens in the 10 administrative regions.
It carries out some of its work through subordinate offices, regional health authorities, agencies and other related organisations that are spread all over the country. They are responsible for health care delivery in their respective regions or agencies.

Dr. Frank Anthony
Dr. Frank Anthony is the Minister of Health, of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, and was previously the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport (2006 to 2015). He was involved in HIV work since 2000 and provided strong leadership in the development of Guyana’s HIV program, through collaboration with international partners and civil society organizations. He is currently the Chair of Guyana’s Country Coordinating Mechanism, and the Caribbean representative on the UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board. A Highly successful, results-oriented healthcare executive with a Master’s in Public Health from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and a Medical Degree from the Russian Friendship University in Moscow, Russia.
