The Ministry of Health invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Facilities Manager

  • (1) FACILITIES MANAGER ON THE GS: 10 SALARY SCALE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Facilities Manager would be required to execute the undermentioned duties:

  • Prepare and supervise spending on the approval of the Regional Health Officer for the Regional Budget for Infrastructure, Rental and Maintenance of Buildings, Utility Charges, Other Goods and Services Purchased, and Transport, Travel and Postage, and further, provide a weekly Public Sector Investment Programme Report to the Regional Health Officer.
  • Supervise and manage all Land and Water Transport Services and ensure all vehicles, boats and bikes are adequately cleaned, maintained, operated by a licensed operator and furnished with log-books as required by law.
  • Prepare and update inventories on Health Facilities, Land and Water Transportation, and Furnishing and Equipment for all health facilities and provide a monthly report to the Regional Health Officer.
  • Supervise work of contractors in connection with the maintenance and improvement of buildings and building facilities.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of health facilities, evaluates the complexity of any needed repairs to determine best solution, projects job cost, and oversees the implementation of approved procedures to ensure the ongoing efficient operation of assigned buildings.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with all health facilities to keep abreast of their service needs to be able to anticipate problems before they become crisis situations.
  • Coordinate the Department’s budget preparation and ensures that adequate resources are allocated to meet the identified needs of all health facilities.
  • Ensure that there is an adequate supply of water and electricity to all health facilities.
  • Coordinate the proper disposal of waste (hazardous, non-hazardous, chemical and bio-chemical) in collaboration with the Environmental Health Department.
  • Ensures information technology systems are updated and maintained.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Regional Health Officer and the Ministry of Health.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or any other related field plus at least 3 years of experience in facilities management

OR

A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or any other related field plus at least 6 years’ experience in facilities management.
