Universal Health Voucher

The Ministry is proud to announce the introduction of the Universal Health Voucher valued at 10,000. This voucher is for everyone and allows for early screening tests of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). This new initiative, introduced as a directive by His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, will benefit 500,000 people across the nation, representing an investment of $5 billion in the health and well-being of the population. It is part of the Ministry’s broader push for universal healthcare coverage, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to the essential health services they need. The programme will offer, preventative measures can be taken to mitigate or avoid the onset of these debilitating diseases, ultimately improving the quality of life for Guyanese citizens, free screenings for key NCDs, such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases, with the aim of detecting these conditions at an early stage.
This programme aligns with the Government of Guyana’s ongoing commitment to improving public health and is part of a broader strategy to tackle the rising burden of chronic diseases.

The Universal Health Voucher provides access to the following tests at a subsidized cost:

Adults
o Complete Blood Count and Differential – $3000
o Liver Function Tests – $4000
o Kidney Function Tests – $3000
o Thyroid Function Tests – $5000
o Lipid Profile Tests – $5000
o Prostate Specific Antigen Test – $4000
o Faecal Occult Blood Test – $1000
o Urine Analysis – $2000
o HbA1c – $4000

Children
– Neonates 7-28 days old
o Thyroid Function Tests – $5000
o Haemoglobin Electrophoresis – $10,000

– Infants (less than 1 year old)
o Thyroid Function Tests – $5000
o Complete Blood Count with Differential – $4000

o Kidney Function Tests – $3000

– Children 1- 5 years of age
