Chief Nursing Officer
Ms Nalinie Dass Sutton joined the nursing fraternity on June 9th, 2006 after completing training and achieving a diploma in Professional Nursing. After one year into her practice as a Registered Nurse at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), she further pursued the Midwifery Programme in 2008 and functioned as a Registered Nurse Midwife for 11 years. Ms Dass Sutton was subsequently appointed Ward Manager and assumed responsibility for several medical and surgical units as a testament to her skill.
In 2011, Dass Sutton pursued the Public Health Nursing Programme where she achieved a distinction and was awarded the best graduating student. She later assumed the role of Health Visitor at the Campbellville Health Centre. Apart from her role as a Public Health Nurse, she functioned in many capacities which included but were not limited to being a trainer of trainers for VIA Screening, a school health nurse, coordinating and implementing nursing outreaches, preparing reports for vaccine consumption, managing target populations, administering vaccines, monitoring and maintaining the cold chain, and representing the Maternal and Child Health Department (MCH) at the Regional and national levels on the Expanded Programme Of Immunisation.
Her vision is a reinvigorated nursing profession with improved standards of practice with evidence-based as the hallmark. Thus, her objective is to improve operational efficiency and the quality of patient care within the health sector.
Ms Nalinie Dass Sutton, who is presently the Chief Nursing Officer of Guyana, won the best innovation from the University of Guyana’s College of Medical Sciences, 2023 Handbook on “Nursing Code of Ethics”. In the practice of her calling, she continues to demonstrate diligence and commitment to the nursing profession.
