President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali yesterday turned the sod for the $5.4 billion state-of-the-art Kato Hospital, marking a celebratory moment for the community as it signifies a major investment in healthcare infrastructure.
Joining him were Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai and Permanent Secretary Malcolm Watkins.
The Kato Hospital will feature operating theatres, dialysis machines, CT scan and digital x-ray machines, a modern laboratory, a 24-hour accident and emergency unit, several outpatient departments and other modern amenities and services.
