Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Health this morning delivered remarks at the Opening Ceremony for the Multisectoral and Stakeholder Consultation hosted by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat and the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO).
Today’s meeting, held at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown is focused on the development of a new Subregional Cooperation Strategy (SCS). This strategy is intended to guide PAHO’s Caribbean initiatives and align health priorities with the Caribbean Cooperation in Health (CCH) framework.
Dr Anthony emphasised that the collective effort of regional entities like PAHO, CARICOM, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and other organisations is essential to develop a comprehensive and resilient health strategy for the Caribbean.
The Minister believes that by addressing the various challenges through data-driven decision-making, innovative solutions and implementation of solid strategies, the region can significantly improve health outcomes and ensure better preparedness for further health crises and pandemics.
Also, in attendance at today’s meeting were PAHO/WHO Representatives from the CARICOM member states and Executive Officers from other associated agencies.
