(Georgetown, November 10, 2025) – Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, today hosted a high-level meeting with representatives from the European Union (EU) to explore collaborative opportunities under the Horizon Europe Programme, the EU’s flagship research and innovation initiative for the period 2021–2027.
The discussions focused on strengthening research partnerships and fostering innovation-driven collaboration between Guyana and the European Union. Both parties examined avenues to enhance scientific cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building within Guyana’s health and academic sectors.
As part of the engagement, the meeting also addressed plans for a two-day workshop designed to promote innovation, capacity development, and post-academic collaboration. This initiative aims to further integrate Guyanese researchers and institutions into broader international research networks.
Among the EU representatives present were Ms. Charlotte De Grauwe, Programme Officer; Mr. Joan Nadal Sastre, Head of Cooperation; and Ms. Viktoria Bodnarova, Regional Representative of EURAXESS for Latin America and the Caribbean, European Commission.
Minister Anthony reaffirmed the Government of Guyana’s commitment to advancing scientific research and innovation through strategic international partnerships, noting that such collaborations are essential to the country’s sustainable development and public health advancement.
