On October 4th, the Ministry of Health in collaboration with One Communication and Champion of Hope ( NGOs) Launched Pinktober 2024 at the Pegasus Corporate Suite Hotel in Kingston Georgetown. Pinktober was launched in honour of Cancer Awareness Month, which took place in October. This year’s theme is “Many Hearts, One Fights,” and will focus on the primary goal of raising cancer awareness in Guyana, with a particular emphasis on crucial areas like screening, treatment, and palliative care.

Director of Non-Communicable Diseases Dr Lachmie Lall who was present at the ceremony said that the Ministry of Health is committed to ensuring that every person has access to the necessary screening, diagnostic and treatment options. She also emphasises that the ministry has made significant investments in public health.

Over the past year, we have made significant investments in public health infrastructure, equipping more regional hospitals with mammography services by the end of this year, and ensuring that critical cancer. medications are available through our public health system”.
