Health Minister meets with PAHO/WHO Representative to discuss HEARTS initiative in Guyana

This morning, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Health, held a meeting with Dr Kim Eva Dickson, the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation (PAHO/WHO) Representative to Guyana, and her team, along with officials from the Ministry of Health, to evaluate the implementation of the HEARTS initiative in the country.
The meeting focused on reviewing the current progress and discussing strategies for scaling up the HEARTS initiative, aimed at enhancing the overall response to cardiovascular diseases at the primary healthcare level in Guyana.
This collaborative effort is essential in strengthening the national healthcare system and improving the management of cardiovascular health across the nation.
Attendees included Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Narine Singh; Dr Daniele Drepaul, Chronic Disease Coordinator; Dr Michael Pereira, Technical Officer for Treatment and Management of Cardiovascular Diseases (HEARTS); Mr Cecil Abrams, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and other officials attached to PAHO/WHO.
