The Dental Council of Guyana, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders, hosted the Annual Dental Convention this morning, bringing together dental professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders to discuss advancements in oral health care, share best practices, and address pressing challenges within the field.
The convention featured an engaging programme, including keynote presentations, interactive discussions, and workshops designed to enhance dental services and public health initiatives throughout Guyana.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister of Health, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, underscored the government’s ambitious plans to expand healthcare infrastructure. He highlighted that this initiative aims to significantly enhance dental and pediatric services across communities. The Minister also highlighted the importance of gatherings such as this one, to foster growth and developments in oral health care.
“Conventions like this provide an invaluable platform for dental health professionals to collaborate and develop innovative strategies to improve service delivery,” Dr Anthony stated.
He also announced that the new regional hospitals currently under development will include fully equipped dental departments featuring cutting-edge technology.
“Each of these hospitals will not only prioritise dentistry but will also offer operating theatres, emergency service imaging suites, and various specialised clinics,” he added.
Dr Anthony acknowledged the significant progress made in dental care in recent years and extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr Marvin Monize, Principal Dental Officer attached to the Cheddi Jagan Dental School and his team for their exceptional contributions to advancing dental health in Guyana.
