The Government of Guyana has signed a Finance Agreement with the World Bank Group to support the Guyana One Health Project. This initiative is funded by a $15 million USD grant from the Pandemic Fund and $7 million USD in IDA funding through the World Bank Group.

The One Health approach integrates human, animal, and environmental health to enhance national resilience against health threats. Through this project, Guyana aims to strengthen surveillance, improve laboratory capabilities, and expand human resource capacity to better prepare for future health challenges.

Minister of Health, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, expressed his appreciation for the World Bank Group’s ongoing partnership, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He emphasised the importance of proactive measures in pandemic preparedness, including enhanced surveillance systems, stronger laboratory networks, and skilled human resources.

The Ministry of Health will lead the implementation of the One Health Project, ensuring an integrated and collaborative approach to national health security.
