During his visit to Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Minister of Health, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, distributed approximately 150 newborn cash grants to mothers at the Public Hospital Suddie. Launched on March 8 by His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, the $100,000 grant is available to mothers of newborns born after January 1, 2025. In his address to the mothers, Dr Anthony emphasised that the government initiatives are centred on providing children with the best possible start in life, including financial support, healthcare, and education. By investing in children, the government aims to cultivate a healthier and more educated future generation.
The Minister further highlighted the importance of community engagement and proactive health measures, encouraging parents to seek guidance and support in maintaining their child health. Dr. Anthony also urged the mothers to attend regular clinics throughout their future pregnancy to ensure the well-being of both mother and child.
