AHPCG Observes Allied Health Professionals Day 2024 The Ministry of Health’s Allied Health Professionals Council hosted a stakeholder meeting in observance of Allied Health Professionals Day 2024 at the Ministry of Health Board Room, Brickdam.
This year’s theme, “Quality and Safety,” resonates profoundly as Guyana continues to work collectively to raise the standards of health service delivery across the lifecycle. The meeting aimed to gather insights and foster partnerships to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Allied Health Professionals Council.
In his remarks, the Minister of Health, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, highlighted that healthcare professionals are not limited to doctors and nurses but include various categories of healthcare providers working together to deliver quality care.
Dr Anthony further explained the importance of the Allied Health Professionals Act in setting high standards for these professions. As we advance, there will be a necessity for us to expand into other professional areas.
One of the reasons we passed this Act in 2010 was to establish high standards for the profession”, he said.“Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Narine Singh, highlighted that the current Allied Health Professionals Council has been particularly active over the last two years and has been instrumental in tying Allied professionals and high standards in both the public and private sector.
The primary goal of the Allied Health Professionals Council is to ensure that all Guyanese, regardless of where they live, have access to adequate healthcare services provided by licensed, competent professionals who are well-versed in modern techniques and best practices. In attendance were Dr Pheona Rambaran, Chair of the AHPCG; Members of the AHPCG and several stakeholders.
