In efforts to provide advanced service experience to persons along the East Bank Corridors, the Ministry of Health’s Diamond Regional Hospital currently undergoing construction catering for a population of 40,000. This project, which aims to provide improved access and quality of health care services to patients, is part of a partnership with China’s Sinopharm International, to modernise Guyana’s regional healthcare system.

Diamond Regional Hospital which is part of a larger project that will see five other hospitals being built across the country, will consist of a modern Accident and Emergency Unit (ER) and a Laboratory that will be operational on a 24-hour basis.
This facility will be fully equipped with CT scans, two operating theatres, several outpatient clinics, a neonatal unit and 75 patient beds, digital x-rays and ultrasound machines.

The Government of Guyana remains committed to building a world-class healthcare system that will cater for all citizens, the Caribbean and international visitors to Guyana. Hence, the project is part of the government’s plans to upgrade health facilities and add more to the country’s stock.
