Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Health, met with representatives of the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation (PAHO/WHO) as part of the second mission to advance the development of Guyana’s Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP).
The mission team, comprising Mr. Leon Charles and Dr. Lindonne Telesford, is conducting multisectoral consultations to validate findings from Phase 1 of the HNAP process and identify priority adaptation strategies to strengthen the health sector’s resilience to climate change impacts.
Also in attendance were PAHO/WHO Representative to Guyana, Dr. Kim Eva Dickson; Dr. Escalda; Dr. Chelsea Frank; and Director of Climate Change and Environmental Health, Mr. Nayan Persaud.
The mission forms part of the EU funded Strengthening Climate Resilient Health Systems in the Caribbean project, implemented by PAHO across sixteen CARIFORUM countries.
