Yesterday, the Minister of Health, Honourable Dr. Frank Anthony, attended the Allied Health Conference which brought together key stakeholders and professionals from various allied health disciplines to discuss advancements, challenges, and opportunities in strengthening Guyana’s healthcare delivery system.
In his remarks, Minister Anthony commended the dedication and contribution of allied health professionals, emphasising their crucial role in patient care and the overall efficiency of the health system. He also highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to continuous education, professional development, and the modernisation of health services across the country.
This year’s conference featured presentations and research discussions on several key areas of focus, including:

• Childhood Trauma as a Major Contributor to Anxiety and Depression Among Adults in Guyana (Research)
• Out-of-Pocket Cost and Determinants of Private Diagnostic Imaging Services Utilization on the Essequibo Coast of Guyana (Research)
• Arsenic, Lead, and Cadmium in Rice in Latin America and Human Health Risks (Research)
• The Health Burden of Inadequate Physical Activity and Evidence-Based Benefits of Exercise
The conference also included an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and share insights on the way forward for the allied health sector.
