Oral Health Education

Because of the importance of Oral Health to General Health, the Ministry of Public Health and Dental Health Services have utilised several strategies to promote Oral Health in Guyana. These include:

  • The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Programme at the University of Guyana
  • The Dental Auxiliary Training Programme (DATP) of the MoPH
  • School Oral Health Programme
  • School-based Dental Clinics
  • Oral Health Education in DATP and BDS Curricula
  • Oral Health Month – November every year
  • Preventive and Curative Services at regional and national levels (including Specialized Services)
